I started back to classes on January 4 and haven't had much time to shoot photos at all. My schedule is from about 7:15 AM until I get home from work at midnight. Somehow, I manage to fit in a political science, American history and geology class and a lab and then direct two shows of your local news. Last Friday night after sleeping for only a few hours each night did I finally crash. I really don't even remember driving home the next day. I woke up with a massive headache and stayed in bed until the afternoon. When I started feeling better, I watched Invictus with Stephanie and spent the next day relaxing next to her. She is more at ease with me pointing the camera in her direction.

Stephanie

I shot this photo with the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D lens while just laying on the couch. She had looked up while I was focusing and I just asked her to close her eyes and shot using natural light. It's really the most photography I've done lately. Besides the cold weather, my left knee has really been bothering me. Sometimes, it's a dull ache, but if I am active such as in walking around campus at school, the pain increases to the point that it becomes difficult to push off of it.

Today, I had planned to shoot a few photos after my geology lab, but upon leaving school, I drove straight home and slept for a couple hours. I'm not as young as I used to be, but I do try and stay active. Some days are much harder than others to avoid pain while trying to do all that I need to do in one day. While I had set out an ultimate goal when deciding to go back to school, I am considering other options at the moment. One thing I love to do is capturing a moment with my DSLR. It is hard to believe it has been a little more than a year since I began shooting. My favorite self-portrait as of late is this film noir looking photo. It was shot in a well lit room, but with the right settings and a simple flash off camera, I can eliminate all ambient light and only show the light I want. I hope in the coming weeks, I might get a chance to shoot some more, but depending upon how much time my studies take up, I might just have to post when I am able. Happy New Year! I still cannot believe it's the fifteenth already.
